Am I welcome here?
Yes! As one affirmation goes, "As Disciples of Christ, we welcome ALL to God's table of grace, where we are empowered to serve without boundaries." Whatever your history and wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we hope to be a place where you feel welcome to worship, serve, explore, and question. We are an Open & Affirming congregation, so there is no doubt that you are welcome here.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you'd like. You'll see people in blue jeans sitting beside people with slacks and golf shirts. You’ll find some people who like to “dress up” for church. There is no dress code, official or otherwise. Just be yourself.
When should I arrive? Where are you located?
We have coffee, juice, and snacks in the gathering area outside the sanctuary (narthex) each week beginning at 10:45. Worship begins at 11:00 a.m. You can get directions by clicking on the "Location" button, above.
What will the service be like?
Our worship service lasts about an hour, very rarely longer. There are some things we do each week:
- We sing both contemporary and traditional songs.
- We take communion each week. You are welcome to take communion if you choose.
- We have a biblically-based sermon, which normally follows the texts of the Revised Common Lectionary.
How do I get involved?
Volunteer and ministry opportunities are advertised throughout the year. Twice a year we offer a Discovery Class, led by the senior minister. This class helps you get to know Johns Creek Christian Church, including its history, the Disciples of Christ, church membership, our ministries, and your spiritual gifts. We would love for you to join us!
What's available for my kids?
We have programs for children of all ages Sunday worship, as well as other opportunities for learning, worship, and service throughout the year. Find more information here.
What do you believe?
While we hold many things in common as congregations and as individuals, you'll find that as Disciples of Christ, many of us come from diverse areas on the theological map. We believe that those differences don't divide us, but make us a stronger church. Find more about what Disciples of Christ believe here.
Will anyone bother me during or after I visit?
We go to great lengths to ensure you feel welcome at Johns Creek Christian Church. We will be pleased to have you, but will not embarrass you or single you out in any fashion. If you leave us contact information on the attendance pad on Sunday morning, we will try to follow up with you on your visit. But we promise not to come knock on your door and we won't annoy you or try to intrude on your busy life.
